Finding inspiration on social media: Live fast and die young

This is another instalment in the finding inspiration series.  This time I challenged myself to get out my gel press and join Birgit Koopsen in making tissue paper. She showed a video on her instagram account.

Probably my most favorite thing to do lately is collaging with gelli printed tissue papers. You just get the yummiest layers! I LOVE that the paper turns completely transparent and you can see all the papers underneath shining through. Of course the papers were created using Carabelle Studio stencils and masks 😉

I had a playdate with my friends Els and Inge (sunnycraftyafternoon) so I took the challenge and created some lucious tissue paper background for my layout.

These are the supplies I used.  I scooped the Dylusions paint on my small gel press with a spatula.  When the I had enough tissue paper to do the background, I used Prima gel medium to adhere everything down.

I added some extra’s on top of the tissue paper with stencils (KesiArt) and paint, and some stamping with paint and memento ink.  I had this part of ‘Goud’ -or Gold in English- stuck in my head.  The artists, Bazart are one of our upcoming Belgian bands.  They sing in Dutch, so maybe you won’t understand the lyrics.  But it all comes down to live fast die young 🙂  They sing: I’d rather go to hell fast than to go slow to heaven.

So I made a devilish Prima doll and an angelic one.  I stamped them on Prima letter paper and colored them with Distress Markers. It may not be clear from the picture, but I used a pale orange as a skin tone for the devil. So she seems a bit ‘reddish’ like a devil. The wings on the angel are an older Tim Holtz stamp, embossed with white antiquing embossing powder by Ranger. The devilish has a jet pack strapped to her back for speed.  I did some stamping for the words, and some handlettering.  I used archival jet black ink and Pitt Pens for extra dark black. The crown on top of the first e in ‘hemel’ is part of the Heart & Wings steel rule die by Tim Holtz.  I used nuvo glitter paste for the extra vavavoum!

It took me a very long time to complete this page…  But I’m kinda pleased I did it. I really like the effect of the tissue paper, but it is really hard to not fall in love with your background!
